Traveling Registration
Our programs are designed to provide Hastings area youth an opportunity to play organized basketball in a positive and motivational environment. We do this by providing learning and development opportunities at a competitive pace. Participants will develop basketball skills, leadership abilities and self-confidence. They will learn how to successfully interact with others to achieve a common objective. We hope all participants develop a pure joy of the game and learn the value of basketball as a lifetime fitness activity.
Ages
Our traveling program is for kids entering grades 3-8! No experience is required however if your child has not played before, you may want to consider basketball classes or leagues at the YMCA. They offer multiple sessions fall-winter for kids beginning as young as pre-K.
When
Player assessments will take place September 23/24.
First season practices will begin the week of October 20th.
The season typically concludes with Grade State Tournaments early March.
Where
Practices are held at Hastings Middle School and Hastings High School. Elementary Schools may also be used from time to time. Tournaments may be played across the metro region.
Practices
Teams practice 2-3 times per week.
Tournaments
Teams will be registered for a specific number of tournaments depending on their grade level*:
3rd Grade: MYBA League. 5 weekend tournaments (2 games each), plus 3 additional tournaments.
4th Grade: 4 tournaments + Grade State
5th Grade: 6 tournaments + Grade State
6th Grade: 6 tournaments + Grade State
7th Grade: 8 tournaments + Grade State
8th Grade: 9 tournaments
*Coaches will have the option to add tournaments and this will be communicated to each team individually.
Jerseys
Uniforms will be ordered by the player 9/11-9/23. This year, the uniforms will be purchased by the Hastings Basketball Boosters and yours to keep.
If you need a different size or a replacement, you will be responsible for purchasing a new uniform.
Please be sure to come to one of our try-on events September 15/16/18th at Hastings Middle School.

Shooting shirts will be available to purchase in our Hastings Basketball Apparel Store which will open the week of September 15th.
HBB will provide practice jerseys which will be turned in at the end of the season. $50 will be charged for a damaged or not returned practice jersey.

3rd Grade: $200
4th Grade: $250
5th Grade: $350
6th Grade: $350
7th Grade: $450
8th Grade (boys only): $450
Payment Plans are available during registration.
Extra Costs
Uniforms will be purchased by the player.
Optional added tournaments will be proposed by coaches and there may be a cost associated.
2025-2026 Season
This registration is for boys (grades 3-8) and girls (grades 3-7*) interested in playing traveling basketball for the 2025-2026 season.
*8th grade girls should register for basketball through the High School registration. There will be no 8th grade girls traveling team this season.
Registrations submitted after August 31st will be assessed a $50 late fee.
We have a few exciting announcements for the upcoming season!
Hastings Traveling Basketball is getting new uniforms! In 2025m Hastings Basketball Boosters will purchase the uniforms and they will be yours to keep. We hope that the jerseys will last for 3 seasons, however you will have an opportunity to order a different size at the beginning of the following season if needed. We will be offering try-on events September 15/16/18 at Hastings Middle School from 6-8pm.
Additionally, we will be adding a tournament for each team (4th grade+) and there will not be an increase in registration cost. The Hastings Basketball Boosters will be covering the additional cost.
volunteer requirements
During this registration, families will have the choice to: commit to 12 hours of DIBS during the season OR buy-out volunteer hours for $300 (paid upfront).
There are 3 ways to fulfill your volunteer requirements:
1. Volunteer to be a head or assistance coach*
2. Complete ALL required hours by 3/31/26
3. Join the Hastings Basketball Boosters Board*
If you do not complete one of the options above, you will be charged $300 on 4/1/26.
* Please complete the interest form and during registration, indicate your interest in the volunteer section. This does not guarantee open positions or that you will be selected.
